Haytor Admission Criteria
Young people can be placed at Haytor for short, medium and long term placements up to a maximum of 18 months.
Although we prefer clear planned admissions (over a week) we are able to take emergency (looking for admission within 48 hours) and short notice (2-7 days) admissions.
We will support any referring agency to ensure that this is a smooth and planned process, we are able to provide a list of required information to enable all risk assessments to be conducted and for all emergency placements we hold a planning meeting within 72 hours of admission.
Referrals can be made by either contacting the registered manager directly, to the Placements Team (details below) or by following the links on this web site.
Haytor specialises in providing medium-term placements and can help find the appropriate next placement through Five Rivers extensive range of specialist children’s homes and family placements.
We are happy to consider a young person where there is:
A need to consider alternatives to secure accommodation
A need to offer close support of a young person coming out of secure accommodation. An identified need to live in a structured environment without other children. An objective of helping the young person to move on to live in a group setting or in a family placement.
The team is particularly skilled at caring for young people who are described as ‘volatile’ and ‘attention-seeking’ through the use of diversionary activities and clearly defined boundaries and expectations.
Young people with a lot of energy will enjoy the openness of the local environment and the home’s proximity to the coast.
We will consider enquiries about any young person within the remit of our registration and our Statement of Purpose and the layout of the building.
We are committed to working closely with placing authorities to achieve the desired results for young people.
Where a young person requires a move on from our services to a group living environment, we are experienced at being able to assist in identifying a suitable resource, whether this be within our own services or externally.
Where group living may not be suitable, we will identify a Social Worker from our Family Placements Service who will be assigned to work alongside the home from commencement of the placement. This allows a suitable family to be identified and the necessary transitional work to start as soon as possible
