Assessment & Therapy

Assessment & Therapy

Five Rivers has drawn on well-developed theories underpinning our work. Our therapeutic services provide direct consultations and training for staff and carers in areas of Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, behaviour modification, trauma & dissociation, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) Child Psychology Psychodynamic principles and therapeutic communication amongst others.

Of even greater importance is our understanding of how to put theory into practice. Within each service, practitioners are selected to deliver targeted interventions, therapeutic communication and emotional competence through authentic warmth within authoritative parenting style which predicts child well-being across a wide spectrum of services.

Depending on the severity of these difficulties, these children can often ‘bounce’ from placement to placement. Each move adds to their sense of rejection, and can escalate their behavioural difficulties.

At Five Rivers, we will make appropriate assessments of the child’s emotional, social, behavioural and educational needs. Assessment will then play an important part throughout the child’s journey through Five Rivers ensuring that the placement and the work being done remain appropriate to his or her needs. Having assessed the needs of the child, and recommended the appropriate placement package, we will then provide specialised on-going training.
