Five Rivers Training Department 2012
It is our aim to provide a clear Learning Progression Programme for all levels of residential staff by the Autumn of this year which will be a rolling three - four year process to ensure that we all keep up to date and current with required training at foundation, mandatory, core and specialist levels.
We will also be expanding our provision as the year unfolds to encompass a Management Training Programme so watch this space!Five Rivers has a genuine and shared commitment to ensuring High Impact Sector Leading services for the children and young people in our care and one of our key objectives is through employee development enabling a knowledgeable, skilled and competent workforce.
Our training will support our aspiration for all children and young people in Five Rivers to feel safe, valued and supported to realise their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.
Evaluation and feedback remains invaluable and fundamental to our work and we will be reviewing our systems in place for this in 2011 - in the meantime we encourage our staff and carers to keep feedback coming in after each event and remembering that honesty and openness are crucial for us to ensure that training meets expectations. All our training courses will include an element of reflection focus - thus enabling all employees and carers to use this as a 'tool' for their own development and of the department and its trainers.
Professional Development / Attendance
Managers and individual employees are asked to share responsibility for their continuing professional development (CPD). Individual training needs should be discussed in supervision and in appraisal. There are a variety of ways in which staff might be developed. Formal training is but one method.
Some training activities will be repeated from previous years and others will be new to some regions, and as the year progresses all parties will be informed of further enhancements to our overall programme.
With revised career development pathways available and a training program which supports both career development and service improvements equally, there are real opportunities to reach your full potential and be successful in Five Rivers Childcare.
I do hope you take the opportunity to thoroughly review the content of this document and ultimately access the wide range of training activities contained within.
