Learning & Development Department
This is a new and innovative year as we see the implementation of the newly formed Learning and Development Department which is linked with our Human Resources department enabling a cohesive and ‘joined up’ approach for all our employees and carers from the start of their time with Five Rivers to every stage of their progression.
This year we are publishing two internal Learning and Development manuals for all staff across the disciplines within Five Rivers – the first new manual due for release in September 2010 will bring us in line with an academic year of learning and will path the way for future objectives this department seeks to achieve in order to deliver High Impact Sector leading learning. Our readership (target group) will be our residential staff and service managers across the country.
A second innovation for September 2010 will be a standardised learning and development programme for all Five Rivers foster carers which will be in place at varying levels; from pre-approval training to residential and induction training and then a rolling programme which will ensure that carers have access to the most up to date learning and developments within their sector of knowledge.
Our Learning and Development Manuals’ are also a useful tool not only to view what the department is providing but also as a reference tool for wider learning and professional development. Updates on legislation will be provided for all staff with access links for wider reading. Five Rivers is also developing a career progression plan for its employees across all disciplines and our department will be announcing these innovative developments at intervals throughout the year.
