The Pillars of Parenting
Five Rivers has developed a strong working relationship with the ‘The Pillars of Parenting’, which promotes the ‘Authentic Warmth Model of Professional Child Care’. This is a mix of theoretical psychology and training programmes and we are using this innovative model to complement our existing therapeutic services.
The Pillars of Parenting methodology supports Five Rivers in measuring considerable improvements in personal and social skills of young people; in generating an increase in the stability of placements throughout our ‘Five Fundamental services’ through a combination of related theoretical and practical training and by delivering support programmes which are mentored and supported by a chartered psychologist.
Bringing together psychology and social care into a pedagogic child care model which is new to the UK; Pillars of Parenting sets out a systematic structure for improving the quality of ‘professional parenting’ that children need; through specific, research-based psychology, training and supervision and an expert clinical overview.
This dynamically focused and purposeful care can start to deliver happier more resilient children, feeling genuinely loved and cared for - even when they are in public care.
Through the use of a wide range of specialist provision we are able to select service environments which facilitate a working model of pedagogical care.
We are able to enhance our services to deliver targeted interventions based on the findings of confirmed psychological research and upon the impact of parental rejection.
This sector-leading model is currently being piloted in our residential programmes with a view to enhancing our services throughout the UK.
