It is ideally situated for those young people who require an intensively supported placement away from peer group and other adverse influences. The staff team are experienced with working with young people who show a wide range of challenging behaviours and work with them to channel these to more positive results.
Young people are able to pursue academic achievements via home tuition in line with the many varied activities that are on offer within the surrounding area. This has proven results with young people where they are able to feel more positive about education and learning especially if a school environment has been a negative experience for them in the past.
Each Young Person is provided with a specific individualised package that is regularly reviewed with them and with the placing authority. We are also proactive is assisting, through an assessment process, the placing authority to identify the most suitable placement for the young person to move on to and in helping with the transition process.
All young people who stay with us will reside in singleton accommodation, therefore never will there be any more than one young person staying at Haytor
We work with each young person on a staffing ratio of 2:1 providing a secure, bounded home-like environment which is underpinned by therapeutic values of empathy, understanding and positive 'parenting'. Our aim is to provide a home for each young person where they feel valued and safe and are able to begin to work through the effects of childhood trauma.
