Osmington House

Osmington house is a warm and welcoming singlton Residential Children's Home located in Wyke Regis on the beautiful Dorset coastline between Weymouth and Portland.

The bungalow is situated on the perimeter of an activity centre overlooking the Weymouth coastline. Whilst there are a vast range of activities on offer this is not the only focus of the crisis intervention Young People who reside there are able to pursue other interests that assist in diverting them from negative and often destructive patterns of behaviour. Examples of which include music, art and environmental awareness.

At Osmington, Young people are able to pursue academic achievements through outreach and home tuition in line with the many varied activities that are on offer within the surrounding area. Osmington staff have worked successfully with young people with educational provision and have enabled them to move on to more inclusive educational environments. This home can accommodate young people from 11 to 16 years of age, of either gender.

Osmington works with our clinical psychotherapist who specialises in attachment disorders, his involvement commences from the start of each referral. We work with each young person on a staffing ratio of 2:1 providing a secure, bounded home-like environment which is underpinned by therapeutic values of empathy, understanding and positive 'parenting'.

Osmington house has a small, mixed team of 6 permanent staff plus a designated seasonal worker and the Registered Manager.

In addition to this absences are covered in the first instance by workers drawn from the organisation's bank of sessional workers who are managed by Osmington House and are familiar with both the service users, staff team and home's ethos. All staff pride themselves on good clear communication and consistency within their work, providing high standards of role modelling and encouraging learning naturally in an authoritative parenting style.
