Young people at Fountain House have access to our registered on-site education provision. The education team work with practitioners to help reintegrate young people back into mainstream education services where appropriate.
Admissions are planned in advance to enable the individuals objectives and needs to be refined and so that a pre-placement visit can occur by the individual or placing authority.
Fountain House Practice Model
Practitioners are trained and professionally supervised to deliver The 'Authentic Warmth' model of child care , which is a theoretical model based on confirmed psychological research and founded upon the impact of parental rejection.
This innovative model enables the team to work using appropriate parenting techniques combined with emotional support.
Ensuring practitioners are empowered with the psychological theory, knowledge base and skills to understand and respond to the emotional trauma and rejection which many looked-after children endure.
The unit also has a Chartered Psychologist who works weekly with our team to provide an expert clinical oversight and assists to deliver a range of psychological services including: strategising appropriate, targeted interventions; therapeutic communication and regular ongoing assessments to ensure that the young person is progressing and any further needs are being identified.
We are committed to ensuring that all young people have access to appropriate education. Wherever possible, we will assist young people in accessing or returning to mainstream education using the good links we maintain with local schools. Alternatively, as part of the placement package, we are able to provide independent education using our resource unit housed within the home's grounds.
This provision is available to any young person, who is unable to access mainstream school.
The curriculum is tailored to suit each young persons needs according to their individual education plan.
Our practitioners are experienced in working with children that have been left traumatised by their past and recognise the impact that parental rejection has on the child or young person's emotional development.
Fountain House Admission Criteria
The home specialises in caring for young people who have experienced abuse, trauma and multiple placements resulting in a need for:
