All Five Rivers houses are family-sized homes and are, as far as possible, run as such. Every home is located in a residential area to ensure that the children retain their identities as members of the community. The family atmosphere is important and underpins the environment in a Five Rivers home. Homes range in size - and each strives to provide a warm and secure environment, whether run for a group or individual; or mixed or single sex children and young people.

Staff to child ratios are always favourable helping to promote and maintain the desired family atmosphere and make a Five Rivers house into a home.
