Our Staff
We are fortunate to have teachers and tutors with specialist knowledge and qualifications in all core areas of the curriculum:
Headteacher: Jane Hicks B.A. Hons, PGCE,Dip' Special Ed
Jane Hicks is an English and Literacy specialist as well as an accredited Special Educational Need Coordinator. She is currently working with Bath Spa University on research within the field of special needs as part of a Masters programme.
Annie Burke HND, B.A Hons, PGCE
Annie is a professional Artist and Art specialist. Annie also has many years experience in youth and community work. Annie is co-coordinator for our modular Humanities curriculum and Art and Design and contributes to the PSHE programme of study. She is also actively developing and coordinating our therapeutic arts programme.
Brenda Martin B.Ed. Hons
Brenda is a well qualified and experienced Special Needs Teacher who coordinates the special needs primary programme. Brenda is also our Science co-ordinator and delivers Science across the key stages to GCSE level.
Jennifer Lewis B.A Hons
Jennifer has recently moved to England from Canada where she completed a degree in Politics and History. She has a great deal of youth work experience and is an active and involved specialist teaching assistant / trainee teacher here at the Centre. Jen helps teach Humanities and Food Technology and provides us with input on Citizenship through our cross curricular project work. She is also developing a primary integration programme for pupils working at Key Stage 3.
Roger Stone B.Ed
Roger comes to us with many years experience as a Deputy Headteacher in Key Stages 1 and 2. However, our pupils also benefit from his skills as a master craftsman in carpentry, in mechanics (bike maintenance) and as a musician.
Charlotte King
Charlotte is our new Learning Support Assistant who is providing enrichment programmes for our pupils in the form of accreditation in P.E. And in AQA Unit Awards in Literacy.
Barbara Newell
Barbara is the P.A. To the Headteacher
We are also in the fortunate position to have regular peripatetic specialist staff to provide workshops in Resistant Materials, Music, Jewelry making and a range of enrichment activities and who support our ‘Outreach’ and virtual school programmes for pupils in the care of Fiver Rivers who cannot access The Farringdon Centre.
