Goodmayes is rated by Ofsted as “Good” and is located near Ilford in Greater London. We welcome same-day, emergency placements of young people up to the age of 17, from anywhere in the country, for stays of up to 17 days. The home provides a safe, nurturing, short-term option for young people during times of placement breakdown, crisis and intervention.

The young people who are referred to Goodmayes often present significant challenges to those responsible for their safekeeping. Safeguarding is of the highest importance to the Goodmayes team and we put great emphasis on multi-agency working, with regular consultation and liaison with our LADO, the host authority and the local police.

“The standard of service you provide does kids a world of good.  Absolutely lovely accommodation, and please pass on my thanks to all of the staff who took such good care of my daughter.”
Parent, 2017

The team shares a mission: “Through providing a safe homely environment which is filled with love, laughter and nurture, combined with consistent routines, we enable our young people to grow and develop, being supported to move on to their next placement whilst knowing they are valued and loved. We embrace the six elements of a therapeutic environment which are: playfulness, acceptance, love, curiosity empathy and consistency.”

“I’ve never felt as welcomed as I have here. I feel the staff are really supportive at all times and I have felt part of the household since I arrived. Thank you very much to all.”
Young person from a rural Midlands authority, 2017

We provide a daily observation record and analysis. Towards the end of a young person’s stay, we produce a report detailing behaviours, potential causes and healthy responses, with recommendations for future care provisions and highlighting areas of concern.

“Your report is excellent and demonstrates your organisation’s level of knowledge and the therapeutic service you are clearly offering vulnerable young people.”
Midlands authority, 2017
